The Old Guard RFC took part in the Milan Sevens Tournament on 11 and 12 June 2011.  The Guard beat the Aggiotaggio Boys 19-17 with a last-minute converted try in a fiery match-up, but lost 5-19 to the eventual Cup finalists, Clan of Heaven, placing them in the 2nd tier Plate competition. After taking three solid victories to top their Plate group, and comfortably easing past the Welsh Gwent Police in the plate semi-finals, they faced Italian side Sabbile Mobili in the final, losing in sudden death extra time. A disappointing final result but a superb weekend overall.
