OS Hockey, Football and Rugby

A cool, crisp September morning greeted this year’s OS sports day which started with a hockey match between OS from 2009 and 2010. Caroline Crawford organised and captained a team of OS ‘Gallacticos’ who took on a school first/second team. The hockey was followed by football where a team of OS took on a school staff XI. Damien Donaghue (95) put together and led a team of OS which straddled 3 decades! It was another close contest which the OS won 2-0 with James Fraser (95) scoring. The day climaxed with a four-way rugby 10s tournament, with OS teams representing the Classes of 2004, 2006, 2008/2009 and 2010/11. The competition was fierce and very competitive with some excellent rugby played by everyone. The last game between the Dunnett/Farrant 10 and the Smith/Newman (Old Guard) 10 was a fitting finale and the Old Guard sneaked it with a ‘Golden Try’ winning score. We finished with an excellent tea whilst watching an interesting competition between the Old Guard players to see who took the trophy home.
