Music at Sevenoaks School

Director of Music: Chris Dyer chd@sevenoaksschool.org

Sevenoaks School has a long tradition of music making, going back long before Emma Johnson won the BBC Young Musician of the Year in 1984. The music department is housed in the Performing Arts Centre and is in use from 8am until 9pm every day. This magnificent resource has two outstanding performance spaces as well as other classrooms and resource teaching rooms. There is a suite of 15 practice rooms and a high specification recording studio. There is also a dedicated private study area for the GCSE and 6th form students to work and the Melamed Room, which contains a suite of 13 PCs.

Inside this fabulous resource, the department provides 750 instrumental lessons a week. Enhancing all the department’s tuition is a particularly wide range of ensemble activities which are open to all students of any age.
