Fifty Lower Sixth students made the trip to Piccadilly Circus to watch the Maths Inspiration Show at the Criterion Theatre on Monday 22 November. I must confess that beforehand I was unsure how Maths lectures would fare in a West End theatre, but my fears were soon allayed, and over 1000 students were treated to a highly entertaining and informative performance, with a perfect mix of comedy, stunts, music and equations. Dr Paul Shepherd from Bath University was first up on stage, talking about his experiences as part of the design team of the Olympic Stadium, giving details about how Mathematical models were used to prevent potentially dangerous oscillations.
