Old Sennockians and former colleagues will be saddened to learn that Martin died just after Christmas.

Martin had a long and distinguished teaching career. He was educated at Reigate Grammar School, Goldsmiths College and Loughborough University. He joined Cray Valley School in 1960 and became Head of PE before joining Sevenoaks in January 1973. In his youth he was a talented sportsman at Boxing, Weightlifting, Rugby and Athletics. He played Rugby for the Army and Combined Services and was light-heavyweight Army champion. He represented England at Swimming and Water Polo as a schoolboy. He also played a prominent part in the development of Kent Rugby and was an England U16 selector.
