“Coming to Sevenoaks from a small school is probably something that many people know the feeling of. Especially for first time boarders, the change is immense. Before I arrived I was really nervous, about not making friends, about not fitting in, and even about small things like looking lost and seeming like a loner.
As soon as I arrived at the IC that all changed. I started making friends immediately, many of them better friends already than some of the ones I had to leave behind. The staff make you feel welcome and are incredibly helpful with anything you need, from advice on homework to checking up on you if you aren’t feeling well. I expected to feel out of place and homesick, at least for the first month or so, but I felt at home in the IC within a day. Already there’s a sense of family in the house with people you have only known for two weeks.
There’s always something fun and exciting to do. You can start a sport you never thought you would be interested in, or you can get completely out of your comfort zone with your creative activities. I never dreamed of joining a gospel choir, but with a bit of encouragement from my friends in the IC I tried it, and found it something I wish I could do more often.
In short, all I can really say about joining the school is that I have never seen a wider range of experiences, friendships, activities and support, and am so grateful to be able to be a part of the Sevenoaks community.”

“I came to Sevenoaks expecting a great school with lots of opportunities in every sphere. But Sevenoaks and life in the IC is so much more than that. It’s a group of great friends hanging out with each other 24X7...working really hard, helping each other out and having a crazy amount of fun.”

“It has been very easy to integrate and to feel at home at Sevenoaks and especially in the IC. The diversity of pupils as well as the kind, caring staff have made this school feel like home. I am very happy to be a part of this school and this house and do not regret changing to this school at all.”

Such a radical change is always hard, losing the comfort of your home, parents, friends or even small details like the places where you used to hang out or gather with your friends. All of those had to be changed, and luckily for us, not only the IC, but the entire school has made this replacement as pleasant as possible. Sure, it was strange at the beginning, all the small talk and getting lost through the campus, but now, after 2 weeks I’m actually enjoying myself and I am looking forward for the next 2 years here !
