Lambardes was built in 1965 specifically for the Lower School boy boarders on the Park Grange estate. The house has evolved as modern needs have demanded and a major internal conversion occurred in 1994 when girls joined us. It is the only junior boarding and mixed sex house in the school. More than half the students are from overseas locations. The house remains small, around 20 pupils, ensuring a family atmosphere, which has been a feature since the start. Boarders at Lambardes make good friends and they have a strong identity which lasts throughout their time at Sevenoaks School.

Pastoral Care
The Housemaster, Mr Cameron Kiggell, teaches Economics and Business and Management. He is the Award Officer for the School’s Duke of Edinburgh programme and is heavily involved in coaching sport. One of his more refined responsibilities is the Master-in-charge of croquet. He has been Housemaster since 2004 and his wife, Julia, was previously the Assistant Housemistress. Julia teaches Music and plays a key role in the care of the boarders. She helps with CCF and runs various bands and music groups. Cameron and Julia live on site and have a young daughter. Caroline Dyer is the Assistant Housemistress. She teaches French and German. She and her husband, Chris, who is Director of Music, live in the House, and both their children attend Sevenoaks School. Dominic Mott and Christa Owen are non-resident tutors who help out with evening duties and events. Dominic is the Head of Modern Languages and Christa is the wife of Dr Steve Owen who is the Head of Chemistry and Assistant Housemaster of the IC. Our matrons Ronnie Campbell and Lydia Umney give a very warm welcome to the boarders and share many of the responsibilities of looking after the children such as organising end of term travel, medical matters and laundry. There is a close knit community at Lambardes with a strong emphasis on looking after the boarders during their time in the house. The small and family feel to the house enables students to adapt to the new environment of a leading independent school. We aim to provide a framework within which the boys and girls can be happy and flourish at the School. The Y8 Lambardians act as mentors for the first few weeks of the first term allowing the new entrants to find their feet. Pupils have excellent access to all staff and they feel able to talk to any of us if they have any concerns. We closely monitor their progress academically and pastorally through the school to make sure that they get the most out of life here.

Accommodation
There are two single sex dorms in the house and the Y7 pupils are mixed in with the Y8 pupils. There is a kitchen where food can be prepared. The social area has a table tennis table and a pool table, as well as a separate television and reading room. There are six computers for the students to do their work on; alternatively there is a wireless network for students who bring their own laptop.
