At the end of April all Year 7 and 8 sat the Junior Mathematics Challenge. This is a national competition aimed at the top third of students in the UK.
This year Sevenoaks students achieved 31 Gold certificates, 51 Silver certificates and 39 Bronze certificates, putting them in the top 40 per cent of entrants.
Three students – Hethvi Gada, Sophie Westbrooke and Thomas van Issum – did exceptionally well, qualifying for the Junior Maths Olympiad. This is a two-hour paper of more in-depth mathematical problems. Thomas achieved the highest mark in the school with 124 out of a possible 135.
