Johnsons

A belated Happy New Year (although as the Year of the Dragon commences, perhaps I'm not so late!). It has been a frenetic start to the term for the boys, with Knole Runs, plays, quizzes (a place in the final was unsuccessfully contested against the IC, but it was a good, fun evening for all), sport and, of course, lessons! The boys have all returned in fine form from the holidays and have settled in superbly. IB Mock Exams will soon be upon us, and they provide a focus for the Upper 6th, although the rest of the house also play their part in ensuring that the atmosphere is positive.

We have a Football trip to Charlton on the 3rd March and the takeup is good for the trip, its always a fun evening and provides a good break from the routine for an evening.

With the term proceeding apace, if you need taxis for half term (on Friday 10th February to Sunday 19th February) please email Mrs Jones ( dmj@sevenoaksschool.org ) with the requirements and ticket numbers. Also, my usual reminder is for you to request permission to miss school before booking any tickets, as permission is not always granted and would be an expensive amendment for you. This is particularly important as the year progresses, as the significance of lessons, whilst always high, takes on a different context as exams and subject choices approach.

Finally, hard to believe as it seems, the exeat is soon upon us! Can I take the opportunity to remind you of the timings for the weekend; the house will be open until approximately 6pm on Friday, and will reopen at 5pm on Sunday afternoon. It is unlikely that there will be anyone in the house before this time, as we will all be recharging our batteries and catching breath!

I look forward to seeing you all soon, either for the exeat weekend or at half term.

Jeremy

Weekends, Trips, Exchanges etc

Also, if you wish for costs etc. to be put on the bill for school trips, this information needs to come in writing (email is fine) to Mr Wyld so that he can communicate it to the office.  In some cases, trips leave after the closing time for the houses; in this case, arrangements need to be made, either with friends or guardians as access to the house is not possible during holiday time.

Equally, I would be very grateful if you could confirm your son's weekend plans well in advance - ideally, by the Thursday night. This would help me enormously, and save frantic phonecalls and emails on Saturday mornings. I appreciate that you may not know the plans yourselves, but hopefully we can work together to encourage the boys to be efficient!
