This year’s harpsichord concert, on 28 February, featured Bach’s monumental 90-minute Goldberg Variations, performed by students and staff. The Showcase is an annual event giving students the opportunity to be acquainted with the harpsichord and baroque performance practice.
In this collaborative event, each of the 30 variations were played by one performer. The students adapted well to the technical demands of playing the harpsichord, as well as the intellectual rigour of Bach’s complex contrapuntal music.
