GIH Boarders Olympic update

What a week we have had!  I have to admit that GIH is not always recignised for its sporting ability, so the Boarders Olympics often brings mixed feelings.

Wednesday was the second round of the Boarders' Olympics competition. This week it was the turn of volleyball and tennis. With Alice elected as the volleyball captain, she set about creating a team. Lizzie, Tanis, Mey, Yasmin and Celeste all volunteered. We drew Sennocke in the first round, but Lizzie's serving proved unbeatable, and we won that match 15-0. However the semi-final against School House, (the eventual winners), proved rather more of a challenge and we lost this 7-15. The final match was against Lambardes for those crucial third place points. After losing to the junior House at both the quiz earlier in the year and at the softball last week we were determined to win this one! It wasn't an easy match, but eventually stamina paid off and we won 15-10. Combined with a superlative effort from Saskia and Nicole in the tennis and a second place in this competition, we have enough points to be lying in second place in the girls' competition. (Lambardes are currently leading...) Swimming this week!
