It is not necessary to apply through an agency. We are pleased to accept direct applications.
What are the main feeder schools?

What is the ratio of applicants to places?
We receive around three applications per place in Years 7 and 9, and around five applications per place in the Sixth Form.
Is it easier to get in at Y7 or Y9?
The ratio of applicants to places is similar at each entry point.
Is it easier to get a place as a day student or a boarder?
This varies from year to year.
How should I prepare my child for the tests?
For entry at 11+ past papers are available on request.
At 13+ pupils either take the Scholarship or Common Entrance exam, for which they will be prepared by their school, or our own 13+ entrance exam for which past papers are available on request.
In the Sixth Form details of the tests are forwarded upon application. For some subjects (eg Sciences, Maths) the topics are specified. For other subjects the best preparation is revision of work currently being done. We also publish a list of recommended textbooks for revision.
Do we need to book to come to an Open Morning?

What is the difference between a scholarship and a bursary?
Scholarships are awarded on entry to the school for outstanding academic achievement or outstanding ability in Music, Art, Drama or Sport. These scholarships are worth 10-20% of the day fee.
Bursaries are awarded to applicants who need assistance with fees. These bursaries are means-tested and can represent up to 100% of the day fee.
