Football tour to Paris

In the Easter holidays, the time had arrived for a group of Year 9s to enjoy their eagerly anticipated end-of-season football tour. We were heading to Paris to play three days of football and to spend our spare time in Disneyland Paris. What more could we wish for?! We arrived at the Davy Crockett Ranch, unpacked and prepared ourselves for the days to come.

In the group stages of the competition we came across some strong opposition, when we were not at our best. But the football vastly improved as the week went on. With the As finishing third and the Bs finishing fourth in the group stages, incredibly we were drawn against each other in the semi-final of the shield competition. With a guaranteed place in the final, we mixed up the teams for a bit of fun, the game finally being decided on a penalty shootout. Sevenoaks School was in the final.

In the final, the As were drawn against a team which they had already defeated in the group stages and so a win was expected. The As did not disappoint, bringing home the shield with a clinical 4-2 victory. An added bonus was that we were awarded the golden boot for the goal of the tournament, with Harry Houillon scoring a fine effort from 30 yards out.

With the football matches taking place in the afternoon, what better way to spend every morning than in Disneyland Paris? It is an iconic venue and certainly lived up to our sizeable expectations. It was great to have the freedom to really get the most out of such a great park.

Overall it was a superb tour enjoyed by all, gaining some long lasting memories, along with ‘silverware’ to bring home.
