Friends of Sevenoaks School Association - Hong Kong

On 11 July 2009 Ms Mabel Lau,  mother of Hugo and Isaac Cheng, held her second very successful gathering in Hong Kong attended by nearly 60 guests.  Current and new students and their parents had the opportunity to meet alumni and hear about their experiences.  Another great evening was enjoyed by all those attending.

Friends of Sevenoaks School Association - Singapore

 Jon and Jan Gray hosted another very successful reception for the Friends of Sevenoaks School Association in the garden of their home in Singapore on Wednesday 10 June 2009.  Attendees included current parents, former parents and alumni, two of whom had only recently arrived in Singapore.

On a beautiful evening the reception provided the perfect opportunity for those present to hear the latest news about the school and its achievements.

Tours of the Performing Arts Centre site - May 2009

Three tours of the new Performing Arts Centre site took place on Friday 8, Monday 18 and Friday 22 May.

John Walton, the Development Director, led groups of parents and other guests around the site to see work in progress on the new building.  Garry Stamp, the site manager from R Durtnell and Sons Ltd, was also present to answer questions.

The tours provided an exciting opportunity to see at close quarters how work on the centre is progressing and to have a glimpse of features such as the auditorium, recital room, drama studio and practice rooms.  To read more about the Performing Arts Centre project please click here.

Reception in Geneva - April 2009

A reception hosted by the Head, Mrs Katy Ricks, took place in the lovely home of Don and Helen Ventura close to Lake Geneva on Tuesday 21 April.  The event was attended by parents of current students, parents of former students and members of the alumni including one who attended the school from 1938 to 1942.  This was the first time the school had held an event in Switzerland.

The purpose of the reception was to celebrate the achievements of the school and our students, to renew contact with former students and their parents and to tell them about the school's strategic development plan and in particular the current phase of development.

Mrs Ricks thanked Don and Helen Ventura for generously inviting us to use their home, welcomed guests and spoke about the school, academic achievements and recent co-curricular activities.  The Development Director, John Walton, gave a presentation about the school's development plans and the current project - construction of a Performing Arts Centre due for completion in early 2010.

Brochures describing the plans and individual projects and how guests might consider helping us to implement our plans were presented to guests.  It was a very enjoyable evening and successful event.

Performing Arts Centre presentation - March 2009

On Thursday 19 March the Head, Mrs Katy Ricks, gave a presentation about the Performing Arts Centre project to parents in Sevenoaks.  The Head described the project and set it in the academic context.  The Development Director, John Walson, provided details fo the new building and explained how the project fits in to the school's strategic development plans.  To read more about the Performing Arts Centre click here.

 

Receptions in Milan and Rome - March 2009

A reception hosted by the Head, Mrs Katy Ricks was held at the Starhotel Rosa in Milan on Monday 2 March.  This was the first event of its kind to be held in Italy.  Guests included alumni, the parents of former students and several parents of current students.  Among the OS present was one who joined the school in 1960 following his brother who had arrived at Sevenoaks in 1957.

Mrs Rickes then hosted a dinner in Rome on Tuesday 3 March at which alumni, parents of former students and parents of current students at Sevenoaks were represented.

The purpose of the reception and dinner was to renew contact with former students and to provide an update about the school's recent achievements, details about the long term development plans for the school and news of the next phase of development to alumni and parents in Italy.

Mrs Ricks welcomed the guests and spoke about students' academic achievements and recent co-curricular activities.  The Development Director, John Walton gave a presentation about the school's strategic development plan and in particular the current project, the Performing Arts Centre, due for completion in early 2010.
