Cricket is a summer sport at Sevenoaks, with nine teams representing the School. They are: 1st XI, 2nd XI, 3rd XI, U15A&B, U14A&B and U13A&B. The staff also have a very active team which got to the final of the district knock-out cup in 2007.

Staff
Mr Chris Tavaré is a former England, Kent, Somerset and Oxford University player. He played 31 Test matches, including three tours, and 29 One-day Internationals. He scored 149 against India in Delhi in 1981. In addition each team is coached by one or two members of staff.

Individual coaching
The school have just launched a new one-to-one coaching programme which will start in September 2011. In the Michaelmas term Rob Ferley, the ex Kent & Notts. cricketer, will be delivering 40-minute sessions to pupils before school, Monday to Friday, and in the evening on Mondays.

Fixtures
We have block fixtures for Senior and Middle School teams every Saturday afternoon, whilst the Juniors play matches on Wednesday afternoons. In addition the U15, U14 and U13 teams enter Kent Cup competitions.

Cricket Ground
Our Solefields ground has three excellent pitches, five all-weather and four grass practice nets, and is situated about three-quarters of a mile from the main school site. The pavilion displays team photos going back as far as 1896 and statistics from 1947 onwards.

Practices
Squad practices start in the Lent Term in the new Sports Centre where there are eight indoor nets. It can also be set up for indoor 6-a-side games. Sessions take place on a Monday and Thursday between 6.00 and 8.00pm. The 1st, U15, U14 and U13 squads are all allocated a two hour session. In the summer each team has an after-school practice in addition to their games afternoons.

Tours
In recent years the 1st XI toured Barbados in 2007 and St Lucia in 2010. The next tour is scheduled for July 2014.

Old Sennockians
Since 1970 Chris Tavaré and Paul Downton have gone on to represent England, whilst James Graham-Brown, Guy Spelman and Will House have all played County Cricket. Shami Iqbal captained the Sevenoaks Vine to the Kent League title in 1997, a team containing several Old Sennockians.
