An overview of Music at Sevenoaks
Sevenoaks School has a long and proud tradition of music making.
Opportunities abound for all students to hear many forms of classical and popular music. Students are actively encouraged to pursue their active interest in music and contribute to the many group and solo activities which are available in our thriving department.
The Music department is based in the award winning performing arts centre, The Space. Inside this fabulously resourced building, the department provides over 750 individual instrumental lessons a week.
The building has a 400 seat concert hall, a recording studio, a number of dedicated music practice rooms and a theatre.
Enhancing the department's tuition is a particularly wide range of ensemble activities which are open to all students of any age, from piano trios and jazz quartets to big bands and chamber choirs.
All of the many groups support a concert series of between 40 and 50 events per year which cater for the first time performer as much as they do the experienced music scholar. Many are arranged by the pupils themselves and eagerly supported and thoroughly appreciated by pupils, parents and staff alike.
