All pupils at Sevenoaks have the opportunity to participate in an extremely wide ranging choice of sports activities during lunch breaks and after school. All activities are open to every pupil regardless of ability - nobody is turned away, in fact pupils are encouraged to try something new. Some of the activities necessitate a small termly charge; others are provided by Sevenoaks staff and are free of charge.
Aerobics - This club is run once a week on a Friday and is open to all Middle School girls and boys.
Aikido (charged) - Aikido is a well established popular after-school activity for Middle and Upper School boys and girls. It is a Japanese martial art which aims to pacify aggressors using techniques which are refined to avoid injury and further conflict. The activity is led by Mr Rowan Thompson, a teacher at the school, who is an experienced black belt instructor.
Climbing - The climbing wall in the Sennocke Centre is a fantastic facility giving students the opportunity to learn to climb as a beginner right through to serious training for the more experienced. A high ropes course and abseiling towers provide further challenges. We currently run clubs for all age groups and climbing is offered as a sport option to Year 11 and Sixth Form.
Winter cricket nets - Winter cricket nets are available to all boys that wish to attend. It is a pre-requisite that all boys wishing to play in cricket teams during the Summer term must attend. The cricket nets are organised and run by Mr Chris Tavare as well as the members of staff in charge of each respective team.
Fencing (charged) - The Fencing club meets twice a week in the Sennocke Centre. The club is run by Alex Brentnall, a junior England coach.
Fitness Club - The Fitness Suite is open to Sixth Form students throughout lunchtimes and after school and Middle School supervision is offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday after school.
Golf - Golf is available to all pupils in the school as a paid activity. We have the privilege of being able to use Knole Park Golf Course, Wildernesse Golf Club and Hildenborough Golf Club. There is a senior team, which plays regular fixtures against local schools.
Judo (charged) - Judo is a popular sport at Sevenoaks. The club meets once a week and there are two sessions: one for beginners and the other for intermediate/advanced pupils, with teaching by external instructor. Boys and girls regularly compete at the Independent Schools Judo competition and at the English Schools Competition. Gold, silver and bronze medals have been won at both events.
Squash (charged) - Squash coaching is available for all boys and girls from Tony Howcroft, the school’s squash professional. Both group coaching and individual coaching is available.
Taekwondo (charged) - The Taekwondo club is a popular martial arts club and meets in the Studio in The Sennocke Centre.
Tennis coaching (charged) - There are four resident tennis professionals at the school. Tennis lessons are available as group or individual lessons and are available throughout all three terms.
Volleyball - Volleyball is open to all boys and girls. Currently there is one team which trains and competes in the Summer term.
Yoga (charged) - Yoga is increasing in popularity at Sevenoaks, and is available for all pupils throughout the school.
