Bursaries

Currently the School offers many scholarships for pupils with exceptional talents. Within the Acorn Fund a new Bursary Fund has been established to finance an increase in the number of awards available at the School. These awards will allow gifted local children, who might not otherwise be able to do so, to benefit from the education which we offer. The awards will also help to ensure that Sevenoaks School retains its tradition of encouraging the highest possible intellectual and co-curricular standards.

Donations already received into the fund include:

  • Two 100% means-tested bursaries, created through the generosity of the Hands Family Trust. These awards are granted to local children who would not otherwise have been able to attend the School.
  • Sports scholarship awards offering 100% of the day fee, for sixth form students with high potential ability in one of the School's major sports. Generously funded by the J & C Findlay Charitable Foundation, this award is available annually for a talented boy or girl moving from the maintained sector.

The Acorn Fund will allow the School to increase, over time, the number of bursaries available.

The Bursary Fund within the Acorn Fund has received donations to the value of £1.5 Million

The target is to raise £10 Million in 20 years thus greatly increasing our ability to increase the number of awards.

Although their contribution is not included in the Acorn Fund, The Worshipful Company of Tobacco Pipemakers and Tobacco Blenders have also generously agreed to fund up to eight 100% means-tested year 7 bursaries at any one time, as well as a 10% year 9 all-rounder scholarship on an annual basis.
