In early February, 20 students from Sevenoaks travelled to Belgium to complete the second leg of their exchange with the students of Dames de Marie School in Brussels. We were greeted warmly at the railway station and were immediately immersed in the language which we would spend the next week improving.

During the week we enjoyed interesting talks while visiting the European Commission and the European Parliament and took in some Belgian culture with visits to the Magritte Museum and the Hergé Museum. We also enjoyed a day trip to Bruges where we benefitted from an involving and occasionally comedic tour from a local guide. Over the week all of us became more fluent in French, leading to many friendships being forged between the English and Belgian students.
