Arman Trio masterclass and concert

This year's chamber music masterclass was given by the Arman Trio, pianist Deniz Gelenbe, violinist Constantin Bogdanas, and cellist Dorel Fodoreanu, on Thursday 3 March 2011.

They led an inspirational day, coaching the many student chamber music groups. They addressed such topics as leadership in ensemble playing, the importance of a healthy posture, and rehearsal techniques.

Chamber music is perhaps the most democratic form of music making. Apart from the musical rewards, it is a great way of learning leadership, teamwork, listening, emotional sensitivity, and problem-solving skills.

As part of the day the Arman Trio gave a very enjoyable lunchtime concert, featuring the spooky 'Ghost Trio' by Beethoven. Dvorak's 'Dumky' Trio followed. Its many Bohemian folk tunes made the whole audience want to dance along, prompting rapturous applause from everyone for a superb concert!
