The Deputy Head Academic: Mr Tim Jones

Tim, the son of teachers, was born in Oundle School bookshop and studied Maths and Philosophy at King's College London. He taught at Dulwich College, Westminster School and was Head of Mathematics at Tonbridge School before coming to Sevenoaks in 2008.

Tim has been Chair of Common Room, has run a boarding house and has managed maths, philosophy, music and film societies, squash, croquet and chess clubs at different schools as well as being a day or boarding tutor in all of them.Tim was Head of Mathematics at Sevenoaks from 2008-12 and was appointed Academic Deputy Head in 2013.

We want our students to leave with their curiosity sharpened and their love of learning intact, well-used to learning on their own or in groups, and equipped with the skills of independence and determination that will serve them well for university life and beyond.

As the son of teachers I've been involved in schools all my life. This is the one whose spirit appeals to me the most. Academic enthusiasm and excitement is everywhere and encouraged, and the informal and progressive atmosphere makes it a warm and open place to work for everyone, pupil or teacher.
