Our Aims
The academic aims of the school are:
- To ensure that all pupils fulfil their academic potential.
- To inspire our pupils, and instil in them the love of learning, inquiry and knowledge.
- To develop our pupils’ intellectual confidence and clarity of thought.
- To help our pupils achieve the best possible qualifications for higher education and beyond.
- To ensure that depth and rigour are balanced by breadth and coherence in our curriculum.
- To encourage intellectual and cultural diversity, and develop our pupils’ sense of responsibility for the wider community.
The spirit of the International Baccalaureate breathes through our academic curriculum. Openness of enquiry, breadth of study, creativity in argument and invention, independence of mind, and ambition for real quality: these are the keynotes in our approach to education, and we hope our students will embrace them with energy. The harmonious relationship between student and teacher is vital to our success.
Our Curriculum
A wide range of choice and flexibility in options underpins our curriculum in the Lower School (11+), the Middle School (13+ to GCSE) and in the Sixth Form. Our Academic Faculties work as a cohesive team to ensure balance and cross-curricular interaction.

Success in Higher Education
Virtually all our students go on to the university of their choice, including Oxford, Cambridge and Ivy League. Around 90% of the leavers who apply to UK universities meet the conditions of entry to their first choice university. The vast majority of courses applied to are very competitive, including those at Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, LSE and other leading universities. Interest in US universities continues to grow amongst our Sixth Formers. We prepare students for SATs almost as soon as they enter the Sixth Form, and have established closer ties with leading US colleges and universities.
Our careers guidance begins in the Middle School and outstanding GCSE results help students on their way.
